Howto Discounts

I've created a Discount as 20% with a proper start date (1 Jan) / end date (31 Jan)
I then try to apply that to a specific Product / Product Variant
I open the Discount tab and see this message: "No discounts available. Create at least one discount before mapping.".

Anybody know what am I doing wrong ?

I did what you said and on the Demo now i see the checkbox. Nice !!!
Regarding the Coupons, where do I set those?

Option 2
Will automatically remove the special price when the "Special End Date" occurs ?

My bad, I didn't notice a new text field to put the Coupon Code itself just became visible.

Does it show a coupon at some point or at what point would a visitor know that there is a promo coupon?

I believe on the Shopping Cart itself
...the user will be able to apply that Discount Coupon

Not seeing any coupon or discount. Is there anything I need to do other than create the discount coupon in admin?

Try on the Admin site, the menu Configuration / Settings / Shopping Cart Settings.
See if by checking the "Show Discount box", it works.
